“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” – John 1:29 (NKJV)
Before the fall of man, God had a plan for mankind, for He is an awesome, omniscient God. Nothing is hidden from Him. He knew before the event took place that the snake would tempt Eve in the Garden of Eden. He knew she would eat the forbidden fruit, and share it with Adam, also, and as a result, mankind would fall.
But, long before the fall, God had planned the birth of Jesus. In fact, Jesus existed before the foundation of the world. He was in the bosom of the Father, Jehovah – (John 1:1). He was with God in the beginning, planning for us and He is with us now. The prophet Isaiah also prophesied that Jesus would endure for us because of God’s everlasting love for mankind.
Isaiah 53:4-7 (NKJV) states, “Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows, yet we esteemed Him stricken by God, smitten by God and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions…He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth…”. Jesus was led to the slaughter like a sheep for our sake.
He exhibited humility and exemplified love, care, and concern for us all. At His crucifixion, He paid the price for our healing and redemption. Jesus, the Lamb of God, went to the Cross willingly so that God’s plan for mankind would be fulfilled. We are redeemed to our loving Father. We can go to God at any time.
The Lamb of God (Jesus) was despised and rejected by men. They did not esteem Him highly, for they refused to acknowledge His worth. Even His birth occurred in a lowly manger, but this, also, glorified His Father. Because of God’s plan and His steadfast love for us, we should love and honour Jesus daily.
The Lamb of God was used as the perfect sacrifice. He had no blemish. Jesus, the mediator, brought reconciliation between God and man. He brought hope for all of us. Reach out and believe today by faith. He is waiting for you with His outstretched arm. Know at this time that Jesus loves all of us with everlasting love.
