For his anger endureth but a moment; in His favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning – Psalm 30:5 (KJV)
At some point in our lives, we may have written an examination, attempted to start a business, or pursued a relationship and we did not achieve the desired results. Things did not work out the way we thought they would; to put it in perspective, we failed in our attempts. These are just three examples of the numerous things we may pursue in life. Some persons are fortunate enough to succeed on their first try, but others like me sometimes have to try again. This is not easy because of the disappointment, shame, pain, and humiliation we may be feeling. Everyone, except us, is celebrating.
However, we must understand that failing does not make us failures. There are seasons in life and in some seasons we experience difficulties and disappointments, but these are necessary for our growth and maturity. It is important for us to know that we must try again, especially if we know we are doing what God requires and if we are certain that we are on the path to fulfilling our purpose. As children of God, once we are diligent, we have the assurance that in due time we will experience and celebrate the joy of our endeavours.
I want to tell you today that you are not a failure, therefore never give up after your first attempt. Try again, and most importantly you must know that you can achieve true success and joy in the Lord Jesus Christ. When we read the Word of God we will see that David failed at times, but he repented and continued to pursue His God. He was called “a man after God’s own heart”. (I Samuel 13:14, Acts 13:22)
