Christ is our Source

John 15:5 (HCSB)

I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without Me – John 15:5 (HCSB)

In the womb, the baby must be connected to the umbilical cord to survive. Similarly, one must be connected to the vine if there is to be growth in Christ. The important thoughts from John 15:5 remind us that it is important to remain in Christ as He desires to remain in us.

The nutrients needed for constant growth must be taken consistently. A tree that bears fruit is one that is healthy and prosperous. An infant needs to take food that is easily digestible and at regular intervals. Therefore, being in the presence of the Lord regularly is needed for proper growth in Christ.

As you begin to understand that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, you must confess your sins daily, cleanse your soul and begin to breathe spiritually. One must be intentional about embracing this new life. Prayer is one aspect of the ‘new man’. When you pray you will begin to obey God more and more. Being obedient could be difficult but in God’s temple sacrifices are not unusual; they are often offered for sins. The Holy Spirit will provide the fire as you provide the sacrifice.

Let your life be a sweet-smelling savour unto the Lord. Pursue holiness, release your heart, mind and will to the Lord, and pray that they line up with the will of God.
