Count the Cost

…whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”Matthew 16:25 (New King James Version)

To deny yourself means surrendering the identity you’ve built, the dreams you’ve crafted, and the desires that don’t align with God’s will. It means saying “no” to the version of you driven by ego, pride, and temporary pleasure — and saying “yes” to the refining work of the Holy Spirit. Jesus did this (surrender) in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-39).

Know this: Jesus wasn’t recruiting fans — He was raising followers, disciples who would burn with conviction, walk in purpose, and carry their cross — not just on Sunday, but every single day. There is no room for convenient Christianity.

The cross is not a religious symbol or a piece of jewelry to be displayed. Our culture has done a great job of sanitising the cross, washing off the blood, and incorporating it into history. But the cross is rugged, bloody, and powerful. It is the place where death gives birth to life. It is not just a moment in time — it is a lifelong journey of surrender and transformation.

Taking up the cross is not an event; it’s a journey of sacrificial service to the Kingdom of God. So, let us follow Christ with passion, purpose, and perseverance. Let our lives shout the Gospel louder than our words. Let us represent the Kingdom in the marketplace, in our homes, and in every corner of this earth as living reflections of Christ’s character.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, I hear Your voice calling me to deeper surrender. Help me lay down my will, ways, and comforts. Teach me to carry my cross with joy and purpose. Let my life reflect Your heart, sacrifice, and glory daily. May I follow You not from a distance but closely — intimately — until the world sees You in me. Amen.
