Crimson or Scarlet? God sees your heart.

…” Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; Though they are like crimson, They shall be as wool.” Isaiah 1:18 (NKJV)

There are times when a family member would disappoint us by choosing to display behaviours that go against the accepted culture of the home. What is our response many times? Remember the elder brother in the Parable of the Lost Son? Yes, we prefer distancing ourselves, but God teaches us differently.

After the death of Moses, Joshua was given the mantle to lead the Israelites. Before being able to occupy the Promised Land, many enemies had to be conquered. It was time to prove God at Jericho. Joshua sent two spies to survey the land, by night. Of course, they needed to remain undercover as true spies do. They ended up in the house of a harlot. The king of the land sent out a search party, but the ‘woman of the world’ was wise, and she hid them. Understanding the prevailing circumstances and the power of the God of the Israelites, Rahab, the harlot, asked for a favour in return for her kindness. She asked that all the members of her family be spared from death when the land is conquered.

The question could be asked; Would her family had thought that her life was worth pleading for if they were given the opportunity she now had? Joshua 2:18-21 gives the agreement that was made. At the end of it all, Rahab and her family were miraculously saved. Let’s pray that God will fill our lives with patience, mercy, forgiveness, and love towards our family.
