Develop in Christ
2 Peter 1:8-9
“For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness…” – 2 Peter 1:8-9
In a believer’s life, it is significant to not just ‘know of God’ or ‘know about God’ but genuinely ‘get to know Him’ by spending time with Him, through worship, prayer, and reading His Word. When you spend time with Jesus, you learn more about God’s characteristics, His love, His grace and His goodness – He teaches you. And you learn more about how God sees you.
You will discover as you grow in your walk with God, how much He really loves you and how much His blessings are abundant. God’s grace is unlimited. The more we grow in the knowledge of Him and in how He sees us, as Peter says, the more effective we will be in presenting Jesus to others. You must see yourself as God sees you. You cannot be short-sighted and blind, living in the guilt and shame of your prior sins or your old lifestyle choices. If you keep reliving your past sins, you will never be able to move forward. Don’t allow yourself to be bound by past sins.
You must grow in Christ knowing that your sins are forgiven once and for all by Jesus’ own sacrifice on Calvary for you.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, forgive us for not forgiving ourselves and seeing ourselves as You see us. We confess all our sins and declare in Jesus’ name that we are free. We choose to spend time with you Lord so that we will be built up to rebuke the enemy’s lies set out to deceive us and take us back to our past. We declare that we are free in Jesus’ name. Amen.
