Do Not Despise Yourself, Be Thankful

Do Not Despise Yourself, Be Thankful

(Psalm 139:14 NIV)

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well” (Psalm 139:14 NIV)

You are not here by chance nor by the whims and fancies of your biological parents. You were predestined to be here by God’s divine decree. God decreed by divine appointment the date and time of your birth and inscribed in your deoxyribonucleic (DNA) what you are ordained to become. In Jeremiah 1:5 (NLT), God said, “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” Saints, in order for us to know our divine appointment, we have to be in the right relationship with God.

Research has indicated a woman’s egg only accepts one (99%) of the eighty to three hundred million sperm that comes from a man; that is you. The other millions die. Notwithstanding the fact that for some of us, the timing and the place of our birth may not be perfect in the eyes of our parents, who at the time may have been going through financial challenges, separation issues, prior contemplation of abortion due to economic hardships coupled with shame and misery, etc.; we are here to fulfill our God-given destiny.

In today’s world, the devil has God’s creation consumed with their physical appearance, so much so that information emanating from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons revealed that Americans spent more than $16.5 billion on cosmetic plastic surgery and minimally invasive procedures in 2018. Reports from the same organization disclosed that 1.3 million cosmetic procedures were performed on men during the same period.

Beloved, God does not see you as man sees you. When the prophet Samuel was sent by God to the house of Jesse to anoint the next King of Israel, the prophet was looking among Jesse’s sons for a man with height and good body stature. But God told him, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees…the Lord looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7 – NKJV).

Saints, God is in the business of heart surgery. As you humbly lie prostrate upon the table of His grace, allow Him to surgically remove that heart of unforgiveness, hatred, malice, and deceit and replace it with a heart of love. Love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8). It overlooks unkindness and unselfishly seeks the best for others. Be Thankful!
