“…the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts…” Philippians 4:7
The Bible features numerous significant women, from matriarchs like Eve and Sarah to leaders like Deborah and Esther. These women played diverse roles, influencing the narratives and shaping the landscape of our world.
Their stories offer insights into faith, courage, leadership, and how God worked through both men and women. So many key women in the Bible surrendered to God and made such profound imprints that we today can follow in our daily walk and relationship with the Lord Jesus.
Women such as Hannah, Ruth, and Esther demonstrated kingdom qualities. Hannah, the mother of Samuel, is known for her unwavering faith and prayers for a child. Ruth, a Moabite woman who became King David’s ancestor, demonstrated loyalty and trust. Esther, a queen of Persia, risked her life to save her people from genocide. These are just a few examples of women mentioned throughout Scripture, each contributing to the rich and inspiring narratives.
These women used the qualities God gave them to help their families and communities, including dedication, faith, trust, resolute commitment, strength, obedience, influence, and their love and belief in God.
Like Queen Esther, we are all chosen for a task. Do not view it as small or big, but as an assignment God has given you! Sometimes God calls us to tasks that may seem enormous, but like Esther, we must persevere. Coming to the palace caused her to lose her name, culture, family, and language, all a part of her identity; no small price for a young girl to pay. God’s will, however, prevailed. She was chosen to become the new queen and was placed in the king’s court – the highest place in the Persian empire (Esther 4:14). Sisters, you are also placed in the kingdom of God for this time.
Has God asked you to surrender something precious? Are you willing, like Esther, to give up your life for your nation? Esther is an exceptional example for women of all ages everywhere. Yes, she had all the clothes and jewellery and was ‘pampered,’ but remember her for what she was willing to let go of – she was willing to give up her very life for her people. Matthew 16:25 (NKJV) says, “For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”
Prayer
Lord, we come before You and ask for Your forgiveness, wash us, and make us whole. Give us a desire for the things concerning You, and help us to surrender our hearts, souls, and minds to You as we serve in Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
