“All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.” – Acts 2:42 (NLT)
As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, our faith becomes stronger as we devote ourselves to a kingdom lifestyle. These include:
1. Listening to the apostles’ teaching, i.e., teachings and preaching of those sent by God, e.g., pastors, Sunday school teachers, church elders, etc, thereby keeping God’s Word with us daily.
2. Fellowship – including attending Sunday morning services, Sunday school lessons, Bible study, church activity trainings, fundays, etc. Thus, living a communal life where we support each other.
3. Sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper). Sharing meals and eating together helps us bond and strengthen our relationship.
4. Prayer. This is an important part of our lives because it is where we connect with and fellowship with our Heavenly Father. Without this connection, we are rudderless and lifeless.
If we remain devoted to these simple but effective habits of the ancient church, we will grow and mature in our relationship with God. Our unity and love will be displayed for the world to see and emulate. And, importantly, our relationship with God will continue to improve, and our love for Him will grow stronger.
It is expected that we, as believers, be the blueprint for healthy and peaceful living.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for making Your Word clear. Please help me to be devoted in these areas that I may grow in You and love You more. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
