Faith Perseveres Despite Failures

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

Beloved, faith is foundational for the Christian life. Failing this, we will be tossed to and fro by the waves of adversity, like a ship without a sail and without any hope of achieving any goal in our lives. Faith means having an assurance and an inner conviction that God will fulfill all of His promises in our lives despite the fiery trials, failures, and the voices of the naysayers. Romans 3:4 (KJV) says, “…let God be true, but every man a liar…”.

The road to success is plagued with failures and adversities – it is part of the believers’ walk. Failure is only failure when we refuse to get up from the ground of defeat and then give up the fight of faith altogether. Be assured Jesus is at the finish line with our reward, and He has filled us with His Holy Spirit to counsel, encourage, and comfort us while we lick our wounds and prepare for the next challenge. Remember, according to your faith, so be it on you (Matthew 9:29).

Whenever we experience failures, we are reminded that despite our academic qualifications, social status, class, and wealth, we are not infallible. Going through failures will foster empathy and compassion for others who are struggling, and it gives us the opportunity to share stories where our faith in God has resulted in us overcoming failures. Our testimonies may inspire and motivate others who are facing similar challenges and can serve as a source of encouragement for others to pursue their goals despite setbacks.

There is always a struggle between our faith and fear of failure, particularly when we venture out into unchartered waters and the winds of voices that say; we are not university material, we will never come out of poverty, we will always be plagued with this family disease, we will never be promoted, we will never get married, our business will never be successful, we will never be forgiven for the wicked things we have done in our past life, we will always be the black sheep of our family, etc. However, when our faith in God arises, fear dissipates, and we are propelled into battle with our faith shield and the proclaimed Word of God, which is the sword of the Spirit.

Brethren, failure is indispensable to success.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I lift my brethren who are struggling to succeed through the canopy of failures. In the midst of doom and gloom that surrounds them, I pray that You give them the measure of faith and strength sufficient to cope with their difficult circumstances. Let Your children declare they can do all things through Christ who strengthens them (Philippians 4:13). Amen!
