“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds…”
Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV)
While our relationship with God is deeply personal, it is not meant to be private or solitary. God designed us for community, and Christian fellowship plays a crucial role in growing our faith. When we gather with other believers, we gain strength from shared experiences, wisdom from different perspectives, and encouragement during times of doubt.
Think of it like a fire. A single coal will quickly grow cold if separated from the others. But when coals are together, they keep each other burning brightly. In the same way, being actively involved in a faith community (church, Sunday School, Bible study) helps to fan the flames of our faith. We are spurred on, encouraged, challenged, and held accountable. If you’ve been isolated, seek out a godly community where you can grow alongside others and increase your faith.
Prayer
Father, thank You for the gift of Christian community. Help me to actively engage with other believers, to encourage them, and to be encouraged by them. May our fellowship strengthen our individual and collective faith and spur us on to greater love and good deeds. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
