Faithful to the End

“Faithful is He that calleth you, Who also will do it.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:24 (KJV)

Apart from the fact that God is love, one of God’s characteristics is His faithfulness. He is faithful to us, meaning He does what He promises, and He is reliable and dependable. We can trust Him.

God always delivers on His promises. He promised Abraham and Sarah a child in their old age, and it came to pass. Hebrews 11:11 (KJV) reads, “Through faith also Sarah herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged Him faithful  Who had promised.” Because of God’s faithfulness, Sarah though passed the age of child-bearing, bore a son.

Even when we are tempted, God is faithful. He does not allow us to be tempted beyond what we are able to bear. He even makes a way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13). In truth, God’s creation depends on His faithfulness, and because of His faithfulness, He has given us some laws that allow everything to function the way it does. If God decides not to be faithful and refuses to allow the sun to shine or the rain to fall, all creation will die. Therefore, faithfulness is not just the character of God, but He demands that we be faithful as well (1 Corinthians 4:1-2).

What does it mean to be faithful?

  1. To be steadfast or consistent in the allegiance of affection. A faithful person does not waver. They are always present.
  2. To be firm in adherence to promises or in observance of duty. You keep your promises and perform your duty well.
  3. To be loyal.
  4. It means to be dependable and trustworthy, to be relied on.
  5. Faithfulness is doing what God has told us to do with the resources He has given us.

As we grow more faithful in one area of our life, that faithfulness can improve us in other areas. Faithfulness towards God leads to faithfulness towards family, faithfulness on our job, and faithfulness in financial dealings. We can’t wait to show our faithfulness until someone trusts us with something big. We must be faithful now with whatever has been entrusted to us.

God, Who is faithful and continues to demonstrate His faithfulness towards us, demands that, as His children, we too need to be faithful towards Him. Today, make a decision to be a faithful person. God blesses faithfulness.
