Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” – Genesis 1:28 (NLT)
In general, married couples have the responsibility to bring forth and rear children (Genesis 4:1, 1 Timothy. 2:15). Christian parents have the God-given authority to teach their children and nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord, that they may come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour (Ephesians 6:4). Children also have the responsibility to obey their parents “for this is the right thing to do” (Eph. 6:1 – NLT).
Once parents and children perform their God-assigned roles, society will become less chaotic and much more lucid.
Recent statistics have revealed that in 2020 the divorce rate in our population was at a relatively high level among our married population, adultery, cruelty, and malicious desertions being the top three listed reasons.
Based on the foregoing, it is evident that there needs to be a reversal to God’s intent when He created the institution of marriage; where a man would love his wife (unconditionally) and the wife, in turn, would submit to her husband. And where the children would obey them both.
As such, there is a need to petition the Courts of the Most High God, Jehovah, asking Him to intervene and preserve His Institution of Family. As saints of God, let us pray.
PRAYER:
Father God, we ask for Your divine intervention to change the high incidence of fatherlessness to fatherliness in our nation. Your Word in Malachi 4:6 declares that “You [God] will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to their fathers”. Lord, God turn the stony hearts of fathers into flesh (Ezekiel 36:26) Let men take up their God-given responsibility of nurturing, rearing, and caring for their family, especially the children. We take authority over the spirit of divorce and ask You God that there be reconciliation right now! We destroy the demonic structure of common-law relationships, constructed as a substitute for marriage, and pray that common-law relationships will blossom into marriages, in Jesus’ Name, Amen!
