God is my Anchor

“Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.” – Exodus 20:12 (KJV)

The above commandment is repeated eight times in the Holy Bible, demonstrating family is at the centre of God’s plan for the happiness and progress of His children.

God established families from the beginning, which remain the building block of society. Marriage is instituted by God, and it’s a covenant between a man and a woman to provide a perfect picture of a relationship with Him. Genesis 2:24 tells us that this is why a man should leave his father and mother’s house; to live with his wife. It’s the first institution God ordained.

Today, there is an unseen agent of destruction and demolition (satan) battling against all families. Christian families, in particular, are faced with intensifying attacks daily. Satan targets our communication and relationship with our spouses, children, other family members, and the community. Know that your spouse, child/children, or any other family members are not your enemies. The real enemy can create circumstances so we become distracted and lose our focus on our God.

But I advise you to cast all our cares upon Him, for He careth (1 Peter 5:7 – KJV). Let Him be your Anchor. In this journey, we can trust God; He is with us every step of the way. Grow spiritually with your spouse in worship, prayer, reading His Word, communicating, forgiving, understanding, trusting, and, importantly, setting aside time for each other.

Prayer

Father in heaven, bless marriages with peace and happiness as we put You in the centre of everything. Lord, help us to remain focused on You. We pray for healthy communication, and we pray for our spouses, children, and other members of our family. We break ancestral and generational yokes, family patterns, customs, and traditional bloodline curses in the mighty name of Jesus. Thank You, God, for setting us free. Amen.
