God’s Everlasting Love – Part 1

“The Lord appears to us…saying: “I have  loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” – Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV)

This Bible verse conveys God’s eternal love for all humanity. It says He is faithful and loyal. It is the highest and the greatest pillar that is given to us; no man can surpass it.

When we examine “everlasting love,” we see that it is love that is unchanging, timeless, and enduring. It’s a deep, profound, unwavering, and emotional connection that remains steadfast and resilient throughout the trials of life. It will always be present, no matter the circumstances. Humanity would have a beginning and an ending, but as a divine person, God is forever.

As we embark on this journey of life and unwrap this priceless gift of God’s everlasting love, which is not on a shelf in a supermarket but available to all, we will remember that it is permanent and cannot be bought, bribed, or dated. It is debtless and eternal, which means living and existing forever.

God continues to love us unconditionally, and He invites us and wants us to experience  His unfailing love that never runs out. This everlasting love for us is a vivid gift with no stopping point. It is harmless and protects; it’s always there.

John 10:28 (NIV) says: “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand.” Even though we clearly read in the book of Genesis 3 that sin entered this world through disobedience and that Cain killed his brother Abel through jealousy (Genesis 4) – a real-life issue even today; it’s only by God’s grace, through redemption, that we can be forgiven and experience God’s everlasting love. John 3:16 confirms this. Oh, what an exchange!

Prayer

Our God and Father, we thank You for Your unconditional love. You demonstrate and declare it to us daily. It never runs out; it’s there from generation to generation. As we embark on this journey in 2025, help us love one another the same way You love us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
