“…Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” – 1 John 4:16 (NIV)
The author, Max Lucado, said, “God will not let you go. He has handcuffed Himself to you in love and He owns the only key. You need not win His love; you already have it. And since you can’t win it, you can’t lose it.” And Isaiah 49:16 (ESV) says, “Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of My hands…”.
The Good News of the Bible is not that we love God but that God loves us: not that we can know God but that God already knows us! His thoughts for us outnumber the sand on the shore. We never leave His mind, His sight, and His thoughts. He sees the worst in us and loves us still. Every day of our lives passes before His eyes, and He is not surprised at our sins and failings because He knows us better than we know ourselves. He loves us with an everlasting love!
Even as I reflected on this amazing love, my thoughts drifted to the water conservancy serving our communities here in Guyana. What are some of the facts about this water conservation? It was dug and built and the amount of water can be estimated when full. The water has to be purified and protected to meet the needs of the population’s household size and growth. Fresh clean water is essential to preserve our daily lives. This brings to mind another source of life. Not a pool of water but a pool of love. God’s Love. Always fresh and pure. One swallow slackens the coarse throat and softens the crusty heart.
Immerse your life in God’s love and watch it emerge, cleansed, and changed. We know the impact of God’s love, but the volume? No person can measure it! The love of God is born from within Him, not from what He finds in us. He loves us when no one else loves us. He loves us the way we are, but He refuses to leave us that way. He wants us to be like His Son, Jesus. Don’t you?
