God’s Loving Gift

God’s Loving Gift

Romans 5:5 (NIV)

“…God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us.” – Romans 5:5 (NIV)

God is rich in His love; we cannot begin to fathom it.

When Adam sinned, it caused death to come into this world, not just physical death but also spiritual. When God, in His wonderful grace, sent His son Jesus to die for us, it restored us to a right relationship with Him. This gift of love not only restored us to life eternal but it restored the intimacy we once shared with God. The righteousness we inherited through Jesus’s loving sacrifice gave us access to the presence of God once again through the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Scripture says He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love. No longer do we have to seek God through a mediator in the form of a priest or otherwise. The blood Jesus shed allows us to boldly enter into His presence and commune with Him through the Holy Spirit that lives in us (Romans 5).

This means that no longer do we need to suffer alone, the trials and challenges that life throws at us,  because we have God Himself in the form of the Holy Spirit living in us, showering us with love and strengthening us daily. We have the ability to sit and commune with Him at any moment. We may share our heavy burdens with Him, allowing him to grant us His peace and strength to conquer and overcome our challenges. We may even converse with Him about anything, in that way, leading to a richer relationship with Him.

The fact that the Spirit of the Lord is at all times with us and working in us is the most beautiful gift of love we could ever receive. This is an encouragement for us to engage the Holy Spirit. Take time to build a relationship with Him. Your life will never remain the same! For those who do not yet have the Holy Spirit, I encourage you to accept Jesus into your heart so that you, too, can benefit from this gift.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we love You because You first loved us. Thank You for the gift of Your spirit. We repent today of every sin we have committed against You. Jesus, we believe that You died for our sins, and we ask You to come into our lives and transform us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
