God’s Promise is Achieved – Part 2
Isaiah 7:14 (NIV)
“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” – Isaiah 7:14 (NIV)
The only source that will withstand the storms of time is the victor, Jesus. When Jesus made Himself flesh and moved into the neighborhood, He did many miracles and conducted many teachings. One such teaching can be found in John 4:5-26. Jesus’ conversation with the Samaritan woman reveals His commitment to His heavenly Father. In Mark 4:37-41, He calmed the stormy sea. And the first miraculous catch of fish is found in Luke 5:1-11.
After the fall of man, Jesus volunteered to be the sacrificial lamb (John 10:11). The distinguishing mark of Christ as the Good Shepherd is His willingness to die for His sheep. His death on the cross saved us, His sheep. Jesus remained steadfast and laid down His life for us, His friends. He descended into Hades and took the keys of death, hell, and the grave (I Peter 3:18-20).
There is no power over Jesus, and we are His children. However, we must be in a position to receive from Him and take back what the devil has stolen from us (John 10:10 and Deuteronomy 30:3). Jesus came to give life more abundantly. He came to conquer and destroy satan’s sinister network of evil (1 John 3:8) by the power of the cross (Colossians 2:15) and by giving life that is redemptive and more abundant to those who believe and receive Him. He has fulfilled His part. Let’s do the same on His behalf.
Prayer
Dear God, I thank You for Your redemptive work in my life today. I pray Your Holy Spirit will help me to live for You continually. Guide me along life’s path and help me to be what You want me to be in Jesus’s name, Amen.
