Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervour, serving the Lord
Romans 12:11 – (NIV)
The word “spiritual fervour” is evidence of faith that is alive. It is vibrant and effervescent in expectation of an encounter with God. Fervour is necessary to advance the Kingdom of God and it is propelled by Spirit-filled Christians who share the Gospel with boldness and power. One of the biggest threats to God’s Kingdom is Christians losing passion and becoming lukewarm which over time causes us to become lethargic and adopt the pew warmers mentality. The Church of Christ is NOT a spectator sport.
Beloved of God, when we become lukewarm, we become slothful in the things of God. The Apostle Paul stated in 1 Corinthians 15:58 (KJV) “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord”.
Growing in Christ is necessary for us to be effective in our God-ordained Ministry. It is noted that God made a covenant with each one of us when we ask Jesus to forgive our sins and to become our Lord and Saviour. Most Christians stop at that point, but that is not the desire of God’s heart. We are so privileged, God has a special plan for each one of our lives and a special job for each one of us to do.
Brethren, God desires to covenant with us even as He did with Noah, Abraham, Joshua, and many others. We must be willing to allow Him to have His way in our lives. Time is short, soldiers of the cross, we have work to do. Let’s place ourselves into His crucibles and allow His refiner’s fire to cleanse us, and remould us, thereby creating a new heart and renewing a right spirit within us.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, like the prodigal son we repent of our sins and we re-submit our lives to you in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Father God, in the name of Jesus and by the power of Your Holy Spirit we destroy every power of darkness that entangled us and we demolish every demonic web of satan that had us bound with the fire of the Holy Ghost.
We destroy every spiritual and physical weapon formed against us and condemn and seal forever every tongue that intends to rise against us in judgment, for this is our heritage as servants of the Lord and our righteousness is of the Lord, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
