Our Intercessory Ministry has been serving the fellowship and Wortmanville community since the formation of the church in the 1950s. The aim of this department is to intercede for the local church, the Body of Christ and the nations of this world.
Our department serves the communities and upholds kingdom principles, inspired by scripture found in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NKJV): “ pray without ceasing…”
Our Ministry is led by Elder Torance Semple with a group of twenty six (26) intercessors as at publication date. Areas of corporate intercession include:
Community Prayers
- Prayers of deliverance for members and families in difficulties such as health, financial, legal or other challenges.
- Prayers of thanksgiving for members and families who have achieved milestones such as anniversaries, businesses, employment, acquisition of property, amongst others.
- Continuous prayers for fellowship and leadership including our Presiding Bishop, Reverends, Pastors, Board members, Departmental leaders and ongoing programs in the local church
- Specific prayers for our non-profit organisation, Generation Next.
National Prayers
- Continuous prayers for the Body of Christ and the leaders in the Assemblies of God Presbytery
- Continuous prayers for the leadership and operation of the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary arms of the government of Guyana
- Prayers on topical national issues including the national elections, Guyana-Venezuela border issue and the recent COVID-19 pandemic.
Global Prayers
- Continuous prayers for the nation of Israel (Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you…” – Psalm 122:6, NKJV).
- Continuous prayers for the nations of this world including the FAOGW Diaspora members in the Caribbean, North America and Europe.
- Continuous prayers for missionaries locally and overseas.
Key activities in our Intercessory Department calendar include:
- January – Annual month of fasting and prayers
- October – Annual A.O.G Prayer Conference
- Weekly – Online Prayer meetings at 05:00 hours on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays
- Weekly – Friday Prayer meetings at 19:00hrs in-person and live streamed on Facebook and YouTube
- Annual prayer initiatives hosted by the Georgetown Ministers Fellowship (GMF) & Intercessors for Guyana
