Jehovah God – The Father of the Fatherless
Psalm 68:4-5 NKJV)
“Sing to God, sing praises to His name; extol Him Who rides on the clouds, By His name Yahweh, And Rejoice before Him. A Father of the fatherless…” – Psalm 68:4-5 NKJV)
It is important to let the disadvantaged children know that it matters not whether their earthly fathers abandoned their mothers and that they have become a product of single-parent homes, whether their fathers were physically present in the home but absent in their lives, whether they are orphans or street children – they need to know that Jehovah God is the Father of the fatherless. He provides love for the unloved, hope for the hopeless, and help for the helpless.
We are mandated to let them know that God has a master plan for their lives. His will for their lives is a plan of prosperity (Jeremiah 29:11) and eternal life (John 3:16). Although they may have no proper earthly father, there is a Heavenly Father Who will never leave them nor forsake them (Deuteronomy 31:6). For we too know what it was to be spiritual orphans – that is a people who were unsaved, living a sinful life and bound in the devil’s dungeon of despair. Jesus gave His life for us and set us free.
The importance of having Jehovah God as our Heavenly Father can never be over-emphasised. Some people think that they are too evil and God will never accept them. However, another promise in the Bible says otherwise. Romans 10:13 says, “…whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” – (NKJV). It does not matter who you are and what you have done; salvation is about who Jesus is (He’s God, and He has the power to forgive) and what Jesus has done (He died for us, rose again, and invited us to experience the life He offers us).
Today, let us carry out the great commission by inviting the fatherless to join the Christian Family Church that He has prepared for us all. Repeat this prayer for those who have not yet received Jesus as Lord and Saviour.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I confess that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Saviour and that He died on Calvary’s cross for my sins. I declare that Jesus Christ is my Master, and from this day forward, I am His servant. I thank You God, for commending Your love toward me in that while I was a sinner, Christ died for me. I draw confidence in being justified by His blood; I shall be saved from wrath, in Jesus’s name. Amen!
