Mark 4:39 (When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.) NLT
Sin has broken everything, including nature and the weather, making the world we live in, a dangerous place at times.
It was the year 2004, my husband and I had just bought our first house. We were so excited about decorating and celebrating Christmas and not having to worry about rent or a landlord for the first time. I can say, it was truly a season to remember. Then we ushered in the New Year, 2005. The weather had, however, changed somewhat. The winds grew stronger and then came the rain. Before we knew it, it had rained for days, causing the city and parts of the countryside, to flood. My husband and I watched as the waters started to rise covering stair after stair of our flat house.
We began deep intercession and reminded God of the disciples’ experience on the Sea of Galilee. There the wind grew so strong that waves broke into the boat, threatening their very lives. They woke Jesus Who was sleeping and asked, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” (v 38) NKJV
Like the disciples, Jesus exploded our understanding of who He is. We watched the flood waters stood still and never entered our house, despite its flat nature.
Jesus – our Deliverer is able to calm every storm you encounter. It doesn’t matter what your storm is today, Jesus can and will deliver you. Keep your focus on Him throughout the storm, and beyond.
