Jesus has all Authority

‘And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.” – Matthew 28:18 (ESV)

Jesus said that “ALL”  authority, not some, has been given to Him. The authority referred to indicates that Jesus has supreme control over all creation. This includes the spiritual realm (heaven) and the physical (earth).

It also affirms His Divine nature and His role as the Son of God, Who has conquered sin and death. Jesus’ authority extends over every family, nation, government, every spiritual power, every disease, storm, circumstance, and death.

After His death, Jesus rose from the grave to conquer sin, satan, and the grave. Therefore, His authority was demonstrated through His life, death, and resurrection.

Today, Jesus reigns supreme, and as a result, we, believers, can confidently face every challenge or circumstance knowing that all things work together for good (Romans 8:28), and even what the enemy intended for our harm, God will turn around for good, as Joseph told his brothers in Genesis 50:20.

If, as believers, we are confident that Jesus is in control, then we must faithfully surrender to Him. We must make Him Lord of our lives. If we make Him Lord of our lives, we will obediently follow His teachings, rely on His grace, and allow Him to transform us so that qualities such as love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control become evident.

Therefore, whatever the situation or circumstance that is causing us to worry or to lose sleep, let’s turn it over to Jesus. Psalm 55:22 invites us to cast our burdens on the Lord, and He will sustain us. Don’t you want His help?

Prayer

Dear Jesus, You are Sovereign and therefore Lord of our lives. Help us to learn to surrender to You fully and to depend on Your grace to transform us, making us more like You. We thank You for doing what only You can do, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
