Jesus – The Power of His Blood

Jesus – The Power of His Blood

Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV)

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement of our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed”

Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV)

The Old Testament of the Holy Bible is replete with the blood sacrifice of animals for the sins of mankind. However, the animal sacrifice required by God at that time was to provide a temporary covering of sins and to foreshadow the perfect and complete sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ.

In the Old Testament, blood sacrifices were temporary and only atoned for sin partially and for a short time, as such, there was a need to repeat the sacrifices yearly. It is important to note that when Christ entered the Most Holy Place, He did so to offer His own blood once for all time, making future sacrifices unnecessary. Jesus’ dying words on the cross, “It is finished” (John 19:30) is testimony of that fact.

The power of the blood of Jesus for the sins of mankind signify that there is no longer a need for the blood of animals to cleanse men from their sins. Only by accepting Jesus’ blood, shed on the cross for the remission of sins, can we stand before God covered in the righteousness of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21). It is evident from the foregoing biblical injunctions that the power of the blood is able to heal both the physical and spiritual being of mankind.

As we celebrate and commemorate Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection, I implore those who do not know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour to do so; failing which you will go to a lost eternity. 1 John 1:9 declares that ”If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I am a sinner in need of a Saviour. I repent of all of my sins and asked for Your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son who died on the cross of Calvary for my sins and that He was buried and resurrected. From this day forward, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour and ask that He guides my life and help me to do His will. Father God, I ask all these things in the name of Your Son Jesus Christ. Amen.
