“But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.” – 1 Corinthians 2:10 (KJV)
It is cricket season in the Caribbean – the Caribbean Premier League tournament, known to us as ‘the biggest party in sports,’ is featuring at the moment. Every evening thousands of fans come out to support their favourite team; teams compete against each other for a place in the finals which will give them a chance to win the much-coveted trophy and prize money.
For every sport, there are rules to follow. Therefore, when the teams are on the field batting and bowling against each other, they must obey the rules that govern cricket. Thus, we see umpires present at each match to ensure order is maintained on the field, and they also preside over decisions made.
We, too, need order in our lives as individuals. We must have goals and a sense of direction to follow, and we must understand purpose and be able to fulfil it on a daily basis. In order to achieve this, one must first surrender their life to Jesus, accept Him as Lord and Saviour, and then allow the Holy Spirit to lead and direct their life. The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), helps to guide us along the right path and maintain order in our lives both morally and spiritually.
Let us endeavour daily to yield to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and tune our ears to hear what the Spirit has to say to us because our Master knows the plans He has for us, and we have an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11). With this in mind, let us join forces with the greatest team: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in order to have eternal life, enter Heaven and receive the crown that is waiting there for us (John 3:3-7).
