Listen to the Still Small Voice

Listen to the Still Small Voice

1 Kings 19:11-12 (KJV)

“…And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.”

1 Kings 19:11-12 (KJV)

Decisions! Decisions! So many decisions to be made. We are constantly in the valley of decision trying to figure out what to do, how to do it, and when to do whatever we have to do. Our minds are occupied with so many things. We are engaged in what is happening today and at the same time, we are planning for tomorrow. Furthermore, the children need our attention, and our spouses need us to spend quality time with them. On the job, we are given more responsibilities. In the market, we have to deal with balancing the rising prices; and the list goes on. To top it off, it seems as if we do not have enough time to do all the things we have to do. We are overwhelmed.

Well despite the fact that everything above may be true, and it seems as if we need some more hours in a day, what will be of tremendous help, would be the quiet time we set aside each day to spend in the presence of the Lord. While spending time in His Presence, He will speak to us in that still small voice, giving us the necessary guidance we need to navigate the journey of life, especially in the times in which we live. We need to shift our focus from busyness to resting in the Lord and standing on His promises. He is able to lead and guide us to the point where we will make meaningful decisions that will benefit our lives and those around us in the long term.

So today I encourage you to stop, take a deep breath, pay keen attention to the voice of God, and yield to the promptings of the Holy Spirit so that you and your loved ones can live victorious lives, in Christ Jesus. He will put all the pieces together and help you to get through it all; just as he did for Elijah.
