“And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.” – Hebrews 9:22 (NKJV)
Blood has never been a pleasant topic of discussion. In the wrong context, it can even be nauseous. Yet, the Bible refers to it over four hundred times. The blood of Jesus saves and delivers us from the bondage of sin.
Satan knows that salvation comes only through the blood of Jesus, and that’s why he gets people to substitute it for ‘good works.’ But our works of righteousness are as “filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6). It’s the blood of Jesus, not “good works,” that blots our sins and makes them impossible for God to find (Colossians 2:14).
Moreover:
- It’s Christ’s blood that removes our sin as far as the East is from the West (Psalm 103:12)
- It’s His blood that frees our guilty conscience (Hebrews 9:22)
- It’s the blood that removes God’s wrath toward the man (Romans 5:10)
- It’s the blood that justifies us before God (Revelation 5:9)
- It’s the blood that brings perfect peace (Colossians 1:20)
Our salvation is not in ‘works;’ it’s in Christ’s blood. Christ alone is our freedom from sin and firm foundation for salvation.
When you live by the power of redemption, you recognise that Christ alone rescued you. No one can redeem the life of another or give God a ransom for it for eternity. The ransom of a life is costly (Psalm 49:7-8).
Without Jesus Christ, we could never be saved. He alone is our hope of salvation. Christ, crucified and resurrected, is our only means of freedom and eternal life. I invite you to make Jesus Christ your Saviour today.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I confess I am a sinner in need of a Saviour today. I acknowledge You as the True Lord and Saviour. I repent of all my sins and invite You into My life. Save me, I pray. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
