“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” – Philippians 4:4 (NIV)
Here are some things that give us Christians cause to rejoice:
- Jesus says, “…rejoice because your names are written in heaven.” (Luke 10:20 – NKJV)
- “I rejoice at your Word as one who finds great treasure.” (Psalm 119:162)
- “What then?”…in every way…Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.” (Philippians 1:18)
- “Rejoice in our confident hope.” (Romans 12:12 – NLT)
When we read the Bible, we may discover a statement that speaks to us personally, either encouraging us or introducing us to the Lord Jesus. What great joy! As we wait for the coming of the Lord Jesus at the rapture, when we will see Him as He is, think of our glorious future with Him and fill your heart with deep joy.
What are you striving for? Where can one find contentment? We are bombarded with messages that the acquisition of material possessions will give us happiness and satisfaction. Those messages are false. 1 Timothy 6:6-7 (NKJV) says, “Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we carry nothing out.” Our souls will never be satisfied with material things, but God will satisfy all our needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).
We can find contentment in this world: it is a source of the heart, mind, and soul. Christian joy and contentment are sourced in the Lord Jesus Christ. He is our Saviour and the Gospel of our hope. The key to contentment is to consider who you are and be satisfied. Consider what God offers us: His peace, His protection, His promises, and His joy. If you accept these gifts, you will be contented.
