Love in Action – Part 2

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” – John 13:35 (NIV)

Love in action is more than good behaviour; it is a witness

Jesus tells us that love is the defining mark of His followers. Not our titles, not our positions, not even our knowledge, but our love. Love in action shows up in how we serve, how we forgive, and how we treat those who can give us nothing in return.

Love becomes visible in everyday moments, such as when we choose patience rather than anger, or when we show kindness rather than judgement. This kind of love is not always easy. It is easy to say we love, but living it out is the challenge. It requires humility, self-control, and reliance on the Holy Spirit. It asks us to respond differently, to choose grace over resentment, unity over arrogance, and service over self. Can you practice that?

When love governs our actions, it becomes a testimony that transforms our homes, our churches, and our communities. People may not always remember what we preached, but they will remember how we treated them.

Love lived out daily becomes a powerful testimony of Christ at work in us. Doctrine may be debated, but it will be difficult to deny the evidence of genuine Christ-like love when our actions preach louder than our words. It is safe then to conclude that love is not proven by how loudly we speak, but by how faithfully we live it. Love in action is love that looks like Jesus.

Take a moment and reflect on what “love in action” looks like in your daily life. Is there someone God is calling you to love in a practical way right now? Are you trying to justify to yourself why a brother/sister should not be given some needed assistance? What would Jesus do?

Prayer

Dear God, give us eyes to see needs, hearts of compassion, and hands that are willing to serve others daily. Let our lives be true and a reflection of Christ’s love daily, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
