The Men’s Ministry (MM) has been serving the fellowship and Wortmanville community since the 1960s of our fellowship. Our ministry provides a safe space for men to be open in discussing real life issues and finding resolution through Godly inspiration. Our goal is to encourage, partner with and provide resources to help minister to the needs of men in our communities and nation.
Our service to more than eighty two members (as at December 2021) is inspired by scripture found in Proverbs 27:17 – “As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.”
What we do
We strive to continually ferment the faith of men in our fellowship with the Kingdom message that offers personal growth, hone leadership abilities and leverage mentorship skills to impact homes and communities. Our Men’s Ministries Day, hosted in April annually, serves as an opportunity for us to celebrate with men across the Assemblies of God (AOG) fellowship. Some other key past and present activities of the ministry include:
- Man Talk Conference (seeks to evangelize men in a rugged male setting)
- Annual Men’s Conference
- Annual Men’s Prayer Breakfast
- Panel and interactive discussions on themes including Retroactive Juvenile Justice, Personal Growth and Mentorship, Leading during a Crisis, Retooling Leadership, amongst others
- Serving as mentors and sponsors for young men in our Royal Rangers
- Community outreach including visits and assistance to elderly and differently-abled members
- Exchange visits to Men’s Ministry groups at FAOG outstations
Emblem and Motto
Our emblem speaks to the tri-fold attributes desired in our men, that of courage, strength and endurance.
Our motto – Rise up oh man of God and lead, encourages men to take their rightful place in society as leaders.
Our Leadership
Our Ministry is currently led by Elder Cleveland Dey (President) and several influential men in our fellowship including Brother Owen Maison (Vice President), Brother Gordon Dummett (Secretary), Deacon Julius David (Treasurer), Deacon Fitzroy Culley (Asst. Secretary) and Deacon Orson Smith (Asst. Treasurer).
Where and when we meet
MM Weekly Meetings were held on Tuesdays from 19:00 hrs in the Sanctuary. This has been adapted to virtual meetings on Mondays (fortnightly) at 19:00hrs.
