The Young Women Auxiliary Group also known as the “Y’s” (pronounced wise) has been in existence for more than twenty years. The group is part of the Girls’ Ministry (Missionettes), bridging the gap between Girls Only and Women’s Ministry. We minister to the 21st century young woman between the ages 19 -30 based on our tri-fold development and tri-fold ministry captured in our emblem.
Our Emblem and Motto
Our emblem is represented by an upside-down triangle with a Y in the center.
- The triangle symbolizes the Y’s emphasis of tri-fold development (spiritual, social, emotional) and tri-fold ministry (church & community, benevolences, world missions).
- The Y embossed on the triangle represents the dedication of each Y’s member to grow in Christ, to live for Christ and to minister as unto Christ.
Our motto is “Living the abundant life”
Our slogan “To live is Christ” is inspired by our scripture verse – Matthew 25:40.
What we do
We engage as young women through:
- Group discussions on themes such as Bible Women, Living with Purpose, Courtship, Health, Dining Etiquette, Preparing for Marriage, Mentorship
- Annual Girls Only and Y’s Rally held nationally
- Christmas Socials
- Exchange visits to other Y’s groups
Our Leadership
Our Ministry is coordinated by a leadership group including Marian Stewart, Donna Tucker, Gillian Foster, Simone Jupiter, Kim Stephen, Sharlene Roberts, Fay Adams and Telesha Primo.
Where and when we meet?
Y’s meet every first and third Saturdays at 17:00hrs. Members remain engaged via WhatsApp since the COVID-19 pandemic started.
Interested in joining or volunteering in the Y’s Ministry? Membership is open to young women from 19 – 30 years old within the local church. Persons with a desire to join this ministry may express that desire to Sis. Marian Stewart or any member of the leadership team.
