“Let the wicked leave (behind) his way And the unrighteous man his thoughts; And let him return to the Lord, And He will have compassion (mercy) on him, And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.” – Isaiah 55:7 (AMP)
Many times in life’s journey we become hurt and or disappointed by the actions taken by either ourselves, family members, or friends. These actions if not dealt with can fester and cause unforgiveness to enter our hearts. No one is immune to unforgiveness, but how we choose to deal with the issue that occurred can cause it.
But you may be wondering what is unforgiveness. Do I have unforgiveness within my heart? Unforgiveness is a state of emotional and mental distress that results from delayed forgiveness of an individual who offends you. It is caused by hurt, anger, resentment, bitterness, and or hate. Unforgiveness is one of the enemy’s tools that is used to trap us as believers. John 10:10 (AMP) says, “ The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].” Unforgiveness blocks our access to our God and Saviour and hinders unity.
As believers, we need consistent access to our Saviour because it’s our oxygen. He allows us to live. Sometimes when we’re impatient with ourselves we make mistakes. Today let the balm of God’s love cover and fill you. If you choose to have patience with yourself, you would be able to forgive yourself. God forgives us when we call on Him and ask for forgiveness, so why can’t you forgive yourself? – (Isaiah 43:25 – NKJV).
Forgiveness is important as Matthew 6:14 (AMP) reminds us, “For if you forgive others their trespasses [their reckless and willful sins], your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” Hence, today, have compassion for that individual and see them through the eyes of God’s love and forgive them. Let today be the day of new beginnings for you. Jesus loves you dearly – walk in His love. He desires for you to live an abundant life but it could only begin when you make the choice to forgive. Make that choice today. Shalom.
