“…Woman,” Jesus said to her, “your faith is great. Your request is granted.” And her daughter was instantly healed. “ – Matthew 15:28 (NLT)
The disciples asked Jesus to get rid of a pagan woman because she was bothering them with her persistent begging (Matthew 15:21-28). They showed no compassion for her or sensitivity to her needs. Is it possible to become so occupied with spiritual matters that we become oblivious to the needs around us?
Instead of becoming annoyed, be aware of the opportunities surrounding you and look for ways to minister to others, especially the needy.
Jesus told the woman, “I was sent only to help God’s lost sheep – the people of Israel (Matthew 15:24 – NLT). He simply meant that the Jews were the first to have the opportunity to receive Him as the Messiah because God wanted them to present the message of salvation to the rest of the world (Genesis 12:3). Jesus was not rejecting the woman. He was merely performing another object lesson in faith that is available to all people.
This woman did not limit Christ to any particular instance of mercy, but mercy is what she begged for. God, however, does not want us to beg Him because Jesus has already paid the price. He has won the ultimate victory on the cross. As believers, we share in His victory. Remember: THE VICTORY IS ALREADY WON!! Only believe!
It is the duty of parents to pray for their children and to be earnest in prayer for them, especially for their souls. Here, the relationship between faith and healing is emphasised. Without the woman’s faith in Jesus Christ as the Healer, her daughter would have never received healing. Let us praise God for delivering us from every form of evil.
If you have a child grievously vexed with an evil or malicious spirit, or various forms of addictions? Bring them by faith and prayer to Christ. He alone can heal and deliver them. Come boldly, with deep humility and a tenacious faith. This combination will surely attract His attention.
Friends, pray Psalm 91 for the spiritual protection of your family, and let us be grateful for the life-giving bread that fell from the Master’s Table.
