My Pain is Great but God is Greater – Part 1

“Do not be far from me, because distress is near and there is no one to help.” Psalm 22:11 (HCSB)

Tragedy, death, distress, pain, suffering, calamity, and heartbreak are a few words no human being wants to embrace. Those unpleasant circumstances sap our bones and drain our strength. But whether we’re stricken with grief by the loss of a loved one, suffering in sickness and pain, battling with mental and emotional instability, or seemingly drowning in the cares of life, know that Almighty God cares.

Our primary Scripture says, “Do not be far from me, because distress is near…”.  Notwithstanding all, even in deep pain and distress, we can cry out to the God who is in touch with the very pains of our heart. Maybe you’ve relied on a man or woman who made seemingly solid promises. Perhaps you’ve been patiently awaiting the aid of a noble and reputable organisation. Still, days have turned to weeks, months, and even years, but help has not yet come. You’re just left in a pool of unfulfilled promises.

“Your circumstances might suggest God is far from you, but in the face of calamity, you can call on Him.” – Bishop Dr M. R. Massiah.

I implore you, God’s beloved, to forget about human efforts and turn to the faithful God who always keeps His promises. Let this be clear: Only God can help you. Your eyes may be blurred by tears or your heart broken by pain, your life may seem hopeless because of tragedy, yet you can call out to God. Your pain may be great, but God is greater.

Prayer

Dear God, I am in deep distress. My heart is weighed down by pain. Do not be far from me. There is no one to help me but You. Please help me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
