Our Blueprint For Life – Part 1

“Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed…” – Joshua 1:8 (NLT)

Have you ever asked the question, “How does the Bible apply to my life?” Well, the Bible is our Blueprint, our Manual for living. It is God’s Message for us, revealing Himself and His perfect plan.

God urges us to apply His Word (1 Corinthians 10:11), but too often we do not. Applying God’s Word is a vital part of one’s relationship with Him; it is the evidence that we are obeying Him. The words of Scripture itself cry out to us, “But don’t just listen to God’s Word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves” – James 1:22 (NLT).

Jesus said, “…Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4 – KJV). His words serve as a reminder that physical sustenance alone is not enough to maintain complete health and wholeness as God intended for His people. We need the nourishment and strength available in God’s Word.

The Bible is our spiritual food. We must eat a healthy diet of God’s Word to develop a strong spiritual foundation. To go without food for several days leaves one weak and unable to function properly. The same with God’s Word. To neglect the spiritual food available through His Word results in weakness and wasting away of one’s spiritual strength.

God’s Word does more than just feed and strengthen. It penetrates and searches one’s innermost parts (Hebrews 4:12). His Word can penetrate the heart and open the mind so that true healing can begin.

Once His Word has penetrated the innermost being and opened the recesses of a man’s heart and life, the healing continues. Psalm 107:20 (KJV) says, “He sent His Word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”

The same Word of God, which was spoken at creation to produce abundant life from a formless void, can be spoken today to produce God’s healing in the midst of destruction, chaos, and sin. His Word can nourish the spirit, reveal sin, and heal the broken life.

Beloved, let us be grateful for the only Manual that can sustain and preserve us for eternity.
