Our Redeemer Can Calm Every Storm – Part 1

“…Let us go over unto the other side…” – Luke 8:22 (KJV)

In serious trouble or crisis, you need a revelation to change your situation. Too often, the circumstances outweigh your faith, and you find yourself focusing more on the storm than on the One Who calms the storm. The weapon that will bring you through is an inner knowing that cannot be altered by circumstances.

This is why Jesus could have slept when the entire crew was so afraid. When Jesus tells you that you are headed to the other side, then you will surely make it to the other side- despite the storm, despite the wind, despite the boat being filled with water. Nothing can sink the boat when you are sailing on the sea with a Word from the Lord. The disciples on the boat forgot one word, and that word was US!

Jesus did not say, “I will go over”, but “Let US go over.” That statement meant the entire group since a plural pronoun was used. The disciples forgot the promise that they would make it to the other side. The current circumstances (storm) seemed more important in their sight than the promise of their future.

When caught in the storms of life, it is easy to think that we are at the mercy of the winds of fate. In reality, God is sovereign. He controls the history of the world as well as our personal destiny. Just as Jesus calmed the waves, He can calm whatever storms you may face.

Jesus is still the Captain of our vessel, and He will always see us to the “other side” of life’s journey. He’s our Redeemer. Let’s not forget His promises to us.
