Positive Impact!

And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Joshua 24:15 NKJV

Family is an important institution to society. It is in this institution that values and principles are formed and practised. God created this institution not only for multiplying the earth but to develop values and principles that will cause a positive impact in society.

It is important that families understand that they were made in the image and likeness of God. Often, families are ignorant of this reality and because of ignorance, negative values and principles are passed down from generation to generation. Parents, guardians; are you passing down negative principles and values? Whatever you passed down will culture the life of your children. Let us endeavour to understand and embrace the fact that we were created in the image and likeness of God. The fact that we have this special position as ‘image-bearers of God’ we should intentionally pass down the principles and values of the kingdom of God.

When you pass down God’s principle to the next generation, God is using you so your children can be positioned to receive His blessings. The blessings of:

1. Long life. [“Honour your father and your mother, that your days may be long…” – Exodus 20:12 – NKJV]. Children and youth, listen and obey the principles and values that were passed down to you. Once your parents are sharing positive principles/values, you should strive to always obey them so that you may benefit from long life. This is so refreshing.

2. Favour with God and men. [The curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked, but He blesses the home of the righteous…The wise inherit glory, shame shall be the legacy of fools. – Proverbs 3:33-35 -NKJV]. In this season teach your children the principles of the kingdom so that your home will find favour with God and men.

3. Good health. [My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words….keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body. Proverbs 4:20-22 – NIV].

When our children apply the principles of the kingdom of God they will walk in good health. Why not set aside time to intentionally instruct your children with the principles of the kingdom of God?
