“The glory of young men is their strength…” – Proverbs 20:29 (NIV)
This past October and November, our FAOGW (First Assembly of God Wortmanville) fellowship witnessed an unforgettable season — young couples preaching the Gospel and winning souls for Christ. As we celebrate the joy of Christmas, let’s remember the decisive role our youth play in, first, answering the call of God and two, shaping the future. In a world that often underestimates them, God sees them as mighty warriors, equipped by His Spirit to bring transformation and revival.
Our youth are not just tomorrow’s leaders — they are today’s champions of faith. Like Esther, Daniel, and Gideon, they are joint heirs in God’s kingdom, called to rise and apply His power to a world in need of hope.
This Christmas, let’s call forth a generation that will:
- Rise in faith, i.e., boldly stand for truth and righteousness.
- Apply God’s power, i.e., demonstrate God’s love through service, signs, and wonders.
- Transform their world, i.e., bring healing and restoration to communities and beyond.
I recall my own journey — managing a multi-million-dollar company at twenty-one years old, and chaperoning Nulli-secondus (a church youth group) alongside my husband as young adults. I still recall boldly proposing an idea for our church building fund despite being told to be quiet. I trembled at times, but treasured the confidence of FAOGW church leaders who believed in me. That same confidence must be extended to our youth today, just as it was to Timothy (1st Timothy 4:12).
How do we empower them?
As mentors and leaders, let’s:
- Invest in their lives: Through mentoring, discipleship, and equipping.
- Release them into ministry: Give them opportunities to lead and serve.
- Pray for them: Cover them in prayer for boldness and Spirit-filled living.
This Christmas, let’s unleash the power of youth. Let’s call forth a generation that will change the world for Christ!
