Redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb

“In Him we have redemption through His blood,  the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace” – Ephesians 1:7 (NIV)

Yes, beloved, I have been redeemed by the unblemished blood of the lamb of Jesus Christ, my Saviour, my healer, and my soon-coming King.

When I reflected on my life prior to accepting Jesus as my Lord and Saviour, I was in a very dark place, buried deep in the pit of sexual promiscuity. I was also a discotheque junkie encapsulated in a fool’s paradise, which temporarily insulated me from the reality that academically, I was a non-achiever who had no career aspirations, a black sheep of the family, and an embarrassment to the expectations of my father. I lived and loved the wildlife because there was no condemnation, and wrongdoings were encouraged and validated among the company of sinners.

Beloved without Jesus, life is a Merry-Go-Round, and the circular ride provides a fantasy filled with neon lights, pulsating music, and thrills of excitement. However, whenever the ride stopped, there was a realisation that I was still there where I started. The only difference was that some of the riders that rode with me permanently fell off their horses. Some of them became casualties of the HIV/AIDS virus, while others fell off because of drug and alcohol addiction.

Friends, I noted the casualties and continued to ride that horse called sin, heading for the abyss. At one point, I did not care whether I lived or died. My sole intention was to have a fun-filled life on the way to the grave. When I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour, I went to Him with all my fears, failures, insecurities, and sinful ways, and He healed and delivered me from all my iniquities.

My interaction with Christ is not only relational but transformational. He snatched my life out of the hands of the devil, removed me from the broad road of death and destruction, and set me on the narrow road that leads to eternal life (Matthew 7:13-14). He can do the same for you.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, I come to You as a sinner in need of a saviour. I believe that Your Son Jesus Christ, crucified on the cross of Calvary, was buried and rose again on the third day. I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour, and I believe that his shed blood can cleanse me from every sin and evil habit. Amen!
