Redemption is Expensive

“Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold…but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”

1 Peter 1:18-19 (NKJV)

As we recently celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are reminded of His death on the cross. We cannot ignore that Jesus’ death was for us, and it was the greatest ransom ever paid. And this ransom was not a payment to the devil, BUT a payment to God Almighty Himself. God’s love for us is so unconditional that He provided His own substitutionary atonement to deliver us from our sins. God didn’t redeem us with corruptible things like silver and gold. He redeemed us with the precious blood of the lamb, the precious blood of Jesus, spotless and without blemish.

Jesus, the Son of God, gave up everything to redeem us. Will you do that for anyone, much less the entire world? It is incredible. Our Lord and Saviour gave Himself completely just for us. This gift to us was not a last-minute fill-in decision.  It was a strategic plan, as Peter said in Ephesians 1:4-10, “…He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world…that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ…in Him.”

All the precious metals on the earth would not be enough to redeem one person. God paid the most expensive price, the price of the blood of the lamb, His one and only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Is there a question about your value? I think not! You are highly valued by God Almighty, and that valuable price paid was for you to have a full and abundant life with Him now and forever.

Prayer

Thank You, Heavenly Father. Only through the gift of Jesus Christ can I fully see my worth. His finished work proved Your unconditional love for me. I praise You; I honour You; I glorify You, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
