Sit, Hear, and Do!

“For the Word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit… It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” – Hebrews 4:12 (NLT)

As we sit and wait at Jesus’ feet, we come to realise that God’s Word is living and active; it has the power to change anything and anyone. When you receive the Word of God into your heart, it produces what it talks about. It heals, transforms the mind, produces prosperity, and causes you to walk in victory. God’s Word works when it is acted upon!

We’re admonished to be doers of the Word and not hearers only (James 1:22-25). The blessing is in doing. It’s not enough to hear it; you must believe it, declare it, and act on it. Once you respond to the Word rightly, it takes root in your spirit, dominates your thoughts and actions, and prevails over circumstances.

When the Word is planted in a receptive heart, it grows and produces fruits of righteousness, health and success. That is why meditation is vital; it causes the Word to move from your head into your heart, where it becomes a living reality that governs your life.

Let us be reminded that it is the Word that created and sustains the universe and everything in it. John 1:1-3 (NLT) says, “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through Him, and nothing was created except through Him.” Hebrews 1:3 tells us that God upholds all things by the word of His power.

If you give God’s Word first place in your life, it will surely build your life and your future. It will sustain you and keep you in victory. Psalm 1:1-3 describes what happens when you are a doer of the Word: you’re like a tree deeply planted and rooted by the brooks of living water. You’re ever blessed and ever prosperous. Blessed be our God!

I urge you to rest at Jesus’ feet and become firmly grounded in His Word.

Prayer

Dear Father, Help me to allow Your Word to remain alive in me. Let it work in my body, mind and spirit, producing divine health, wisdom, and success, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
