“You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character], Because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation].”
Isaiah 26:3 AMP
Life has a way of constantly making us busy and occupied. Life also has a way, if you allow it, to snuff the simple pleasures out of it. Life too has a way of robbing us of the peace we so need to get by simply.
Isaiah talks about perfect and constant peace in Isaiah 26:3. Here we see that this perfect and constant peace comes when our minds are steadfast, set, and focused on God.
Where is your mind today? Maybe your mind is fixed on the rising cost of living, or maybe your mind is set on raising your children well. Maybe your mind is fixed on your studies or meeting an important deadline. Regardless of where your mind is, please take note of this: It is impossible for your mind to be preoccupied with the cares of this life and be focused on God at the same time.
It is time we evaluate our relationship with God. Our minds should be steadfast and fixed on Him. This is the relationship He desires, that our trust is in Him despite our situation. Our constant commitment should be for our minds to stay on Jesus. Then and only then, as Isaiah said, will we be able to experience that perfect and constant peace that we all need.
Perfect peace keeps us sound; perfect peace keeps us whole; perfect peace keeps us going; perfect peace keeps us strong. Perfect peace ensures we stay connected to Christ.
Examine your life today. Evaluate your relationship with God. What is your mind set upon? Remember, Colossians 3:2 admonishes us to “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.” This should be our lifelong desire.
Pray
Dear God, I want to experience Your perfect peace. Please let my mind be steadfast and focused on You. Let this be my daily posture. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
