“But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
To seek “first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness” means to turn to Him first for help, to fill your thoughts with His desires, to take His character for your pattern, and to serve and obey Him in everything.
We must pay attention when our Saviour speaks, as He offers much wisdom. He gives us exactly what we need. We can trust Him. He desires that everyone comes to Him, turning from those sins whether it’s for the initial repentance leading to salvation or a daily heart check after salvation. We’re wise to seek first God’s Kingdom by trusting in the grace of Jesus Christ, and repenting as God prompts us. This wisdom allows us to spend significant time with Him.
Worrying, however, keeps us from the real challenges God wants us to pursue. You and I are called to refuse to worry and be anxious. Instead, we seek first the Kingdom of God. When we seek we’ll find. When we knock the doors will be opened. God remains available and ready for us to find Him. We can seek God’s Kingdom every day through prayer, worship, and reading our Bible. He gave us His Word so that we can live a pure life. Seeking God’s Kingdom for our unsaved children, spouses, neighbours, and country, will see changes occur. We’ll see the benefits through our prayers. Let’s spend some time with Him today.
Anything we do requires seeking God first.
Prayer
Lord help us to fix our eyes on You in everything, living and walking in obedience according to Your Word. Sharing the Good News of the Kingdom with others for their salvation so that they can spend time with You. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
