Strengthening Each Other

Galatians 6:2Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ. (NIV)

Jesus’ relationship with Peter always produced a sense of the outpouring of unconditional love and deep concern. In Luke 22:31- 32, we read Jesus’ direct words to Peter. As we meditate on these words we can put our names where we see “Simon, Simon,”. Verse 32 specifically states that Jesus said, “But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not:..”. This had to be a period of intercession. Jesus knew that Peter could have reached a point, where he would have ‘thrown in the towel permanently’, so He interceded for him. What about us?

Romans 8:34 states: Who is he who condemns? It is Christ Who died, and furthermore is also risen, Who is even at the right hand of God, Who also makes intercession for us. Romans 6:34 NKJV

It is always wonderful to know that Jesus is there at all times, interceding. We all face times in our lives when our commitment to God is tested. When we feel that God’s promises are no longer true. Let’s hold on and believe Jesus’ capacity to forgive and restore is never depleted. We can take consolation when we remember how Peter was forgiven and restored. Jesus has not changed. His heavenly position and commitment to those who God gave Him, is forever written and sealed.

We are mandated to follow Jesus’ lead and continue to intercede for our families, friends, our nation, and the lost. Amen.
