Surrender in Spirituality

“Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Holy Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.” – Galatians 5:25 (NLT)

God wants the best for us. He gave His only Son to make our new life possible; we should joyfully give ourselves as a living sacrifice to do His works.

In order to accept Christ as Saviour, we need to turn from our sinful ways and willingly nail our sinful nature to the cross. As Christians, we still have the desire to sin, but we have been set free from sin’s power over us and no longer have to give in to it. We must commit our sinful tendencies to God’s control, crucify them daily, and, moment by moment, draw on the Holy  Spirit’s power to overcome them.

If we want to follow Jesus and experience a transformation in our lives, it comes with the responsibility of surrendering ourselves to Him. Paul teaches us that we need to take the focus off our own inadequacies and put the focus on God (Philippians 4:8). Then we have no reason to be ashamed!

In Luke, Mary had big plans, along with her fiancee, Joseph, when an angel appeared and informed her she would conceive a child  (Luke 1:26–38). Mary surrendered her plans to God and allowed His will to be done in her life.

One of the most important things we can do in our Christian walk is to praise God continually. When we walk close to God, we’ll have a fulfilled life. We wouldn’t be immune to the trials in this world, but Jesus, the true vine, will supply all our needs once we remain in Him. We do this by studying His word, staying in communication with Him, and walking in obedience.

God expects us to surrender in obedience in every part of our lives and to walk in the Spirit in everything we do in order to produce good fruits for His glory. Try Him, and reap eternity.

Prayer

Lord, we surrender our hearts to You. You’re always faithful, and You extend Your grace constantly, even when we don’t realise it. Thank You for giving us Your love, which is more than enough, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
