Surrender to the Holy Spirit

“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”

Galatians 5:16 (NIV)

One of the most important changes in our life is our surrender of ourselves to God. A surrendered life is necessary to walk more deeply with Christ and to welcome the fullness of the Holy Spirit (to lean not onto our own understanding). The surrendered life separates those whose desires are for what God wants from those who have their own agendas – the difference between having the Holy Spirit and not having Him.

In the twenty-third Psalm, David describes the anointing that comes from prayer and the knowledge that the Lord is with us. Individuals who truly have been anointed through prayer admit to the sovereignty of God. When we do that, we can live a life of passionate prayer to the Father. We have no cares, having cast them upon the Lord. We trust in God above all things. And then we’re blessed with many fruits of the Spirit, including joy, peace, and patience because we know God will supply what we need.

Let us, as children of God, fully surrender and submit to the Authority of God. Let us cast aside our pride which interferes with a relationship with God, and allow the Lord to direct our lives through reading His Word, prayer, and worshipful attitudes. Surrender today and be blessed (even more).
