“I, Jesus, have sent Mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the Root and Offspring of David, and the Bright and Morning Star.” – Revelation 22:16 (KJV)
Beloved, we must always be able to decipher between our Lord Jesus Christ – The Bright and Morning Star and lucifer. It is important to note that the name “the bearer of light” or “morning star” refers to lucifer, former splendor as the greatest of the angels (he was cast out from heaven after he rebelled against God). As satan, He no longer holds that portfolio.
Throughout the New Testament, he is referred to as a “tempter” (Matthew 4:3), “the ruler of demons” (Matthew 12:24), “the god of this age” (2 Corinthians 4:4), “the evil one” (1 John 5:18) and “as a roaring lion” (1 Peter 5:8). He is also referred to as “Abaddon” – Hebrew for ‘destruction’, “king of the bottomless pit” (Revelation 9:11), “accuser of our brethren” (Revelation 12:10), “murderer”, father of lies (John 8:44), “thief” (John 10:10), “old serpent” (Revelation 12:9), “prince of the power of the air” (Ephesians 2:2), “dragon” (Revelation 12:9), “son of perdition” (John 17:12) and fallen star (Revelation 9:1).
Jesus, our Saviour and Bright Morning Star, was born in a manger in Bethlehem and sent into this world by Jehovah God, His Father (John 3:16), to be a light to us all who live in the darkness of this sinful world. He declared, “…I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12 – NIV). Saints, He has brought us out of darkness (sin) into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9) and has saddled us with the responsibility to be a ‘light bearer’ to the world. And by our good works, our Heavenly Father may receive the glory (Matthew 5:14-16 – NKJV). The destructive one no longer has hold over us.
As Ambassadors of Christ, we are armed with the instrument of His commission (Acts 1:8); we have been empowered to use the Fire of the Holy Spirit and the name of Jesus to trample upon the evil work of our adversary – the devil.
During the Christmas season, we will see satan’s pretentiousness, falsely offering himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14) by performing token good works, attempting to make a mockery out of the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Do not allow him to succeed! We are the true light-bearers. Let us proclaim the true meaning of Christmas and shine the light of God within us to sinners, thereby exposing and dispelling the forces of darkness that bound them.
