The Fulfilled Promise of the Father

“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will crush your head, and you will strike His heel.” – Genesis (3:15)

After His resurrection, Jesus told His disciples, “I am going to send you what My Father has promised” (The Holy Spirit) – Luke 24:49. What Jesus was really doing was restating the essential reason for His ministry.

Have we worshipped Calvary rather than benefitted from it? Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection were the means to an end – the reconciliation of humanity to the Father and, ultimately, the restoration of the Holy Spirit to humanity.

What was Jesus’ purpose for coming into the world? Clearly, it was to break the stronghold of Lucifer, destroy the grip of rebellion from human beings, and reconnect us to the Father so that the Holy Spirit could be restored to us.

All human beings need the Holy Spirit in order to be realigned with the Father and fulfill their purpose on earth.

John the Baptist emphasised the Holy Spirit because he was expressing the specific reason for Jesus’ coming: “He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.” (Luke 3:16 – NIV)

Humanity is not in need of a “religion” or rituals and traditions. All we need is the promise of the Father to be a reality in our lives.

Beloved, let us understand that the Father had already provided what we needed before the foundation of the world. We need the Holy Spirit, who is the source of the power of the Kingdom, to guide us in our lives into righteousness.

The Old Testament experience of the priests and prophets was only a shadow of what was to come. At that time, the Holy Spirit couldn’t live in human beings; He could only be among them. But now, Jesus was saying, “The Spirit of Truth…lives with you and will be in you” (John 14:17 – NIV). He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).

Let us hold fast to our Father’s provision and be about His business here on earth.
