The Lord Taught us the Importance of Praying

“…pray for each other…The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

James 5:16 (NIV)

Prayer has the Power to Transform our lives.

In 1 John 5:14, the Scripture tells us: “This is the confidence we have in approaching God…”. We pray the ‘Word’ in order to overcome spiritual resistance to the plan of God for our lives. We base our prayers on the Word of God in confidence. The Word of God will inspire us to pray. The promises of God will motivate us to pray. God has given us many great and precious promises. It is through faith and patience that we inherit these promises (Hebrews 6:12).

Many believers struggle with prayer. Some say they don’t know how to pray. Others have become discouraged in prayer. But with God’s help, we will make it as we remain in His presence.

Prayers are designed to see results and is one of the ways we release the will of God upon the earth. We must study the Word of God in order to know the will of God. This is why prayer and the Word must be combined. Daniel could pray effectively because he knew the Word of God concerning His people (Daniel 9:2-3).

We should pray with understanding (1 Corinthians 14:15). Understanding the will of God will help us to pray correctly. The Word of God is the will of God. We are not to be unwise (Ephesians 5:17). Prayer also helps us walk perfectly and completely in the will of God (Colossians 4:12).

Life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). The words we speak are spirit and life, and we can be snared by the words of our mouth. Articulate the thoughts of God by praying and confessing His Word (Isaiah 55:8). God’s Word, released from our mouth,  will cause His power to manifest in our lives.

Prayer and confession of the Word are two of the most powerful weapons we have, so let us use them to bring about changes in the world and our lives.
