“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God…” – 1 John 3:1 (NIV)
One of the most powerful truths in Scripture is that God is our Father, not a distant ruler, but a loving, present Father who cares deeply for His children. Earthly fathers may fail, but our Heavenly Father never does. His love is agape – unconditional, unwavering, and unearned.
God demonstrated His love by sending His only Son, Jesus, to die for our sins (Romans 5:8). This act of sacrifice shows how far the Father will go to reach us. He doesn’t just love us when we’re strong and faithful. He loves us even when we’re weak and wandering.
Your heavenly Father longs to protect you, provide for you, and promote you. Just like a good father shelters and nourishes his children, God watches over you, supplies your needs, and positions you for destiny (Philippians 4:19, Psalm 5:12).
His love also heals. If you’re carrying hurt, fear, or bitterness, know this: God is close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). His love can break the chains of fear and restore your soul. I once battled fear and nightmares, but His love brought freedom and peace.
A great woman of God, Reverend Dr Yvonne Osman, would affectionately call Him “Papa God.” That name speaks of closeness, trust, and childlike faith. He is not only God Almighty – He is Papa, the One who draws near and calls us His own.
Prayer
Papa God, thank You for Your unfailing love. Heal my heart, free me from fear, and help me forgive. Let Your love fill every part of me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
